“A revolution doesn’t happen when society adopts new tools, it happens when society adopts new behaviors” –Clay Shirky

套用奥巴马的话,来回答这个if I can:  Yes We Can!

Build a rule, then build a habit|

1. Recently, I didn’t go to uni. broke the rule of going to uni a few times a week, then broke the habit of going to uni, so I’m used to not going to uni.

2. The day before yesterday and the day before, I didn’t go for jogging. So when I went jogging yesterday, it was a bit hard. I broke the rule of jogging  everyday, broke the habit, then I was used to no jogging.

3. I went jogging yesterday and today, so I started to build the rule again, and therefore started to build the habit.

Why build a habit?

It’s less painful if you have a habit to do something. People don’t like go to work but they still do, because they have the habit. It smokes awful when you try a cigarette the first time, but it becomes better when you are used to it, so so many people smoke.

if we want to do something, we’d better build a babit. If we don’t want to do something ,we’d better break the habit. According to the 3 short stories above, we’d better build a rule to build a habit and break a rule to break a habit. For example, if you want to quit smoking, you need to break your every rule about smoking, like one cigarette after meal or one pack everyday.

Personalised Course|

The biggest problem of modern education system, is that teachers do not teach students in accordance of their aptitude. Regarding students as the same and give you a knowledge package, but don’t care about what you need and don’t need. In another word, this kind of education is a seller’s market. Yes, you can choose your course, but  as a student, you cannot control the content, order, and progress.

For example, it’s like buying a CD. You can choose the CD you like, but once you buy it, you buy all the songs in it, and the songs are sorted in a certain order. But what if you buy songs from iTunes?  You find the song you are interested in, and try for 30 seconds on iPhone. If you like it, you buy this one. You only need to pay for what you need, and you can sort songs in any order to make your personalised music library.

Then why shouldn’t our courses be like that? Every student make their own personalised course, in accordance of what they really need, to ensure the course is suitable for themselves. About assessment,   we can have unified occupational certifications.

|

Mortgage Slaves Are Always Slaves, Unless Communism Becomes True|

People who have to work hard for the mortgage loans, are mortgage slaves. They are real slaves, controlled by people with power.

In very early time, how did people have houses? They find a free unused land, and built a house, finished. However, the problem of modern society is the shortage of land. Lands are controlled by government and people who obtain lands by money and power. They build houses, rise prices, and lease or sell. Poor people rent, middle class take a mortgage loan. Therefore, these people work hard everyday, mainly in order to live in a house. They pay much more than what a house itself costs because lands are controlled.

Why are lands controlled?

People with money and power need you to work for then continuously. So they keep the lands, and make you slave and work for them, in order to live.

What if lands are planed and distributed by head. You can have one when you become an adult, and you lose it when you die. You can only have one piece of land. Then you will lose much of your burdens. Of course, the one-piece-only policy, disobeys human natural desire of taking possession. So, the prerequisite of communism is not just improving productivity, but more importantly, improving human minds.

Quit University, then What to Do|退出大学,然后做什么

First, what can I do if I guaduate from university? I can find a job, then work to make value for the society. What’s the essence? It’s making value.

Then, what I can do after quiting university is also making value.

1. Find the needs of markets.

2. Learn knowledge according to the needs, and collect resources needed.

3. Make value for the society.

This is my whole plan, very simple.

|

Learning knowledge in University is Bullshit|

Don’t want to continue on studying in university. Why?

First, the current education mode has been spat by me since middle school, I wanted  to quit, but failed. This mode is a product of the Industrial Age. Mass production raised, companies formed, employees were needed, then an education mode like this was established to provide employees.

In Agricultural Age, people learnt from family, so farmers’ sons became farmers, and cooks’ sons became cooks. Some people learnt as apprentices, so some farmers’ sons also became cooks.

However, it is Information Age right now, what is the suitable education mode? Global connected, information resources can be accessed easily. Everyone can have unlimited knowledge through internet. So Knowledge should not be the main purpose of education.

What is the purpose of higher education? There should be a few points.

1. Establish social resource network. Help young people to establish relationships with other young people, professionals and elites in the industry of his/her future career.

2. Train global views. Help young people to see career with globalized view, to serve for larger market, and have more opportunities.

3. Train cross-cultural collaboration. Learn and practise work with people located in different countries with different cultural background, too make greater value.

4. Many more

Higher education should not be knowledge-oriented, but should be oriented by the points mentioned above, therefore to train people for 21st century. Schools that teach knowledge is too old-fashioned. Why should I go to school when I can learn knowledge online from open courses, so I quit.

University is more about meeting people|大学更重要的是认识人

These days I’ve been thinking about why so many people go to universities. I’ve been studying in a uni for four weeks, but found that uni is quite a waste of time and money.

What is good about university? I found one. You can meet and chat with many people, and this is impossible if you go to work or stay at home. This is exactly what young people need, expanding their social networks, to build their future careers.

I think university is basically about knowledge+people. Nowadays, with internet, we can all get access to free online open courses offered by the best universities in the world. Then the only reason for us to study in a university, is to meet people.

If we can solve the people-meeting need in some easier form, then perhaps we don’t need to go to university any more.

|

Twitter是人肉语义搜索引擎|Twitter is a Human Semantic Google

|

One year after registered on Twitter, I started to use it these days. I found a powerful way to use it: Once you get enough followers, Twitter becomes a human semantic search engine.

This is my experience. After I followed a few people, I was surprised to see that not only the people I followed started to follow me, but also some other people did. This is how Twitter differs from Facebook. Unlike your friends on Facebook, your followers on Twitter are mostly people you don’t know, and Twitter is your broadcasting station towards the people you don’t know around the world.

Then when you get enough followers on Twitter, your broadcast can spread very widely. Most of your followers followed you randomly, so they come from very different places, do very different jobs and have very different lifestyles. Your broadcasting station can reach most of the content you need.

Therefore, when you need accommodation recommendations for a journey to an exotic town, a new job, some information about a new product, or some people to learn a course together etc., you can broadcast on Twitter for what you need and wait for the answers from some of your thousands of followers.

This way of searching is absolutely semantic, because it is human beings who totally understand your language replied you. So before semantic search engine becomes useful enough, Twitter is a good alternation. Even after we have great semantic search engine, Twitter will still be a good tool, because when you talk to people, you get more than just the answers you need.
